Joel Dunkley

Originally born and raised in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan I have been influenced by craft artists of all kinds. My father’s involvement in the craft council led to me growing up submersed in the professional craft world. This created an opportunity for classes in crafts such as blacksmithing and carving. The influence continued on to a large event called Emma Lake where I had the opportunity to work amongst 100 international artists all with specific talents and differing materials of choice.

My work has become heavily based off this side of my upbringing with over-the-top ideas that are technically figured out as fast as I can build the piece itself. I design so as to be able to work with the wood in a process-driven nature. I lean towards more organic shapes as a cause of my style and its un-calculated methods.
